I can’t put my finger on it but something was off with Leo’s audio. Great show overall, but around 1:30:00 I just couldn’t stop noticing the difference. Almost like he was talking through AirPods or something.

Really? Let me check into it. We didn’t do anything differently as far as I know.
Of course we’re going to have a completely different audio chain starting next week, so please keep up the feedback. It might take some time to tweak it just right.

For what it’s worth I was listening to the show via my AirPods and they’ve been a little iffy lately so it’s entirely possible it’s a side effect of aging headphones.
But yeah, I’ll definitely see if I can take better notes if anything pops up during the TWiT v4 upgrade!
Yes, something was off. I’ve just started listening to this episode, under exactly the same conditions as always, and my first reaction was “Leo’s audio is constricted and boxy” - not as bad as old-school telephone audio, but nothing like the bass-warm, tonally-wide characteristic Heil PR40 sound I’m used to. Not so easy to tell whether it was just Leo’s sound, or across all the hosts, because Jeff’s voice is less bassy, and Paris is not in the affected tonal range.
Update: I think Benito’s voice sounded a little boxy too when he commented on something, so maybe it was a wider issue than just Leo’s audio.
