MBW 824: Two-Headed Chihuahua

Beep boop - this is a robot. A new show has been posted to TWiT…

What are your thoughts about today’s show? We’d love to hear from you!

My first post, but have been listening to MBW from its inception. Started watching Leo on The Screensavers back in the day, and followed him here. Hate to start with criticism, but have been sitting on this for a while, and when I found myself yelling out loud with my AirPods Pro in my ears while listening to the previous episode (Mac & Cheese) I knew I had to speak up. Again, I love Leo, but he has a habit of interrupting the other speakers on the podcast. Rene or Alex always seem to have something interesting to articulate, and usually present their ideas in a carefully structured way. When Leo interrupts them it derails the flow of their “essay” and it often never gets back on track, disappears as others follow his lead and weigh in, or if the speaker is able to resume his narrative something gets lost. Leo was away for this episode and with Micah hosting I was amazed at how different it was. He always waited for the speaker to finish before making comments or asking questions. How refreshing! The others followed his lead and all were given the courtesy of an uninterrupted contribution.

Strangely, it almost got a bit TOO civil after a bit. I concluded that Leo stirs the pot and gives things a bit of welcome chaos, which is not an altogether bad thing. But, Leo, if you’re reading, I humbly request that you consider dialing back the interruptions about 50%. Some is fun and valuable, but too much really does spoil the experience for me.

Thank you for all the good info and pleasure your work has given me over the years.

How did you like this episode? I wasn’t on it!

I’m generally trying to keep the conversation moving along. When a host digresses or starts repeating I will cut them off. Sometimes I do let them trail off on their own accord, but it usually takes some effort to recover the conversation.

I understand that many people are uncomfortable with interruptions of any kind - and in my personal life I agree. But a “show” needs to have brisk pacing, and when I interrupt it’s to that end.

I tend to favor @Leo and his interruptions. While some of the host can be long winded especially if a subject of their expertise is being discussed I do appreciate Leo keeping it mostly on track. I for one am one to skip 30 seconds to a minute a head if a ramble goes on to long. I lose interest and want to hear something different.

Thanks for prompt response. As I said, I both liked and disliked the current episode. Like fewer interruptions, disliked no interruptions. But I always enjoy the podcast content. Hoping you will take my criticism in the spirit it was offered—just a suggestion to be a bit more restrained in your efforts to move things along—I thought you might be unaware of how often it happens. (I slurp my hot coffee and unless my wife reminds me I am completely unaware!) Show would not be the same without you, though. Keep on keepin’ on.

I really appreciate the feedback - and I do take it to heart. Let me know what you think about this week’s show.
