When Bob Heil used the former Elvis Presley (Shure) microphone, I think it sounded better than the bright red one, because the red mic. sounded bassy and with breath pops. This does not Heil mics. are bad; I would have to ask if any boost of audio frequencies below 500Hz were applied in the electronics following the microphone. Boosting the lower frequencies in spoken word uses, I feel, detracts form clarity and naturalness of speech. Regarding the Furbie toy which went crazy after being put away in a closet for a month, as the batteries ran down and the supply voltage to the microcomputer fell below normal, it behaved randomly. Just take out the batteries out before they leak and damage the Furbie, possibly beyond repair.
