This report is making the rounds in Windows Central, The Register, and TechRadar. Few businesses will upgrade soon, but damn, it’s tens of millions, if not more, that cannot ever upgrade to Windows 11:
From 30 million Windows devices in 60,000 organisations, the IT cost outlook for replacement devices looks plain brutal for the next 2-3 years—if not simply waiting until 2025 to maximize utility.
Seems almost too disastrous to believe Microsoft would’ve pushed this through.
Windows 11 review: Microsoft’s new OS feels unnecessary | PCWorld
The first review is up. 2.5 stars out of 5 stars; pretty well-written, IMO, but will also be looking forward to Mary Joy’s and Paul’s thoughts in the next week or so.
It looks like this is why they pushed it through. Plus, a majority of those that are capable of running Windows 11 will probably not get it anyway, or at least not for another 1 - 2 years, before the trial programmes have ended and Windows 11 for those businesses is approved.
That’s a great point: I’ll be curious how businesses take it up. Perhaps I’m being too pessimistic, but it probably depends on the type of business, too.
