There seems to be a long and convoluted history behind this new update that has borked some peoples systems.
First Microsoft were to blame then Kaspersky. Now we seem to be back to Microsoft for issuing a late update nobody needs for a long since fixed problem.
We didn’t have any problems with our Windows 10 test PCs and they all run Kaspersky… But I certainly won’t be rolling it out to the general population.
The stupid thing is if you were up to date with Kaspersky as everyone should be, then the fix is not required.
The problem was found then fixed by Kaspersky early last year, and MS have been testing their own fix for about half a year.
The feeling seems to be that this patch does more than is being stated, and MS are not telling us something.
