Just finished listening to the latest Security Now - a great show as ever!
One small correction: Turkey (or Türkiye as it likes to be called now) is not part of the European Union. There have been discussions about it joining for literally decades but nothing substantive has ever been agreed.
Leo’s general point about Article 45 of eIDAS 2.0 still stands - there are authoritarian-leaning leaders in the EU (Viktor Orbán, the Prime Minister of Hungary for example), who might be tempted to take the fullest-possible advantage of the regulations.
