Weāll still launch shows on video when we feel itās needed (like Hands-on Photography, for example). But being able to launch some shows in audio-only means we can try more things. If theyāre hits, weāll add video.
Most podcasts, after all, are audio-only. And 90% of our downloads are audio. We totally understand that video is what distinguishes TWiT from the other guys, and weāll still do all our existing shows that way. And even when itās an audio-only show, weāll stream it live whenever we can. Feel better?
@leo and @Lisa, I totally understand. Iāve been advising small businesses for over 30 years so I understand and agree you have to do what makes economic sense. Iād much rather have audio only TWiT than no TWiT. I appreciate your āgrandfatheringā existing shows.
So tech questionā¦is there a way to record the live video screen? I use a program called FastStone Capture that will do it. Any better methods?
Iād say Iām running the asylum now & I want to do more shows, not less. 2 more shows are dropping this quarter because they are audio only. We plan to launch 2-3 shows per quarter next year. If we did video as well it would be 2-3 per year tops.
This is your legacy @Leo as a TV star. This is how I āmetā you and probably how most people who have followed you for a significant period of time also got to know you. Despite the weird ādisaster is slow motionā that TechTV/G4 became, I donāt think āThe Screen Saversā was ever anything but nerd catnip
I would bet thereās another large group of people that discovered the TWIT network from listening to the weekend radio show. Iād be surprised to hear that most TWIT followers came from the TechTV/Screen Savers universe.
No doubt, but those shows donāt air outside the USA and he has a pretty large international following it seems to me, so theyāre not all coming from the radio show either.
I think sadly the majority only listen, but I love watching. Really it comes down to economics and I assume its just way more practical for TWiT to start to favor audio only
Leo probably has a large international audience because he got on podcasts early. Personally, I found him on TechTV, on the Australian cable network called Foxtel.
