MBW 801: Machine Gun Clippy

Beep boop - this is a robot. A new show has been posted to TWiT…

What are your thoughts about today’s show? We’d love to hear from you!

Alex’s recommendation of live video in Keynote is fantastic. The Office Hours session is available on YouTube . @Leo, it might be good to note that video in the show notes links for this episode.

You could use this for a whole variety of stuff. Ignite-style presentations could mix the slide deck with a live feed of the face or upper body of the presenter. Elaborate canned presentations like the one in the Office Hours demo are great, too: I think many YouTubers could benefit from mixing/presenting data or just dressing their videos with pretty things.

A third option is to just dummy up 5-6 slides and manually flip between them for live interactive Zoom sessions. Wolfram Research regularly does code reviews over Zoom. The presenter could show code in one video, the visual output in another window, and the code review presenter in a third. You could have the various slides changing around the layout for the live review.

All in all, it gives you a really cheap way to set up a variety of screen layouts. This is the biggest change for Keynote in a long time – maybe the biggest change ever.
