The Ontario MOT (like DMV here) must be selling info about me (or maybe giving it away, which might be worse) because I get “offers” from the War Amps using my full legal name. The MOT is the only entity that has my full legal name and not the abbreviated one I usually use, so I presume it HAS to come via them. I haven’t [yet] bothered to make inquiries because the War Amps is a charity, but it does make me somewhat angry that there are obviously data trust issues in play here.

That’s particularly depressing. I can half-understand a commercial organisation doing it, but not a charity.
Most states are doing this. I have seen NUMEROUS articles on topics like this over the years
