My Ticwatch 3 appears to have given up the ghost. As much as I’d love to buy an Apple watch, I don’t own an iPhone so it’s a non-starter.
Should I stick with Mobvoi and get the new Ticwatch 5, or go all in on a Pixel Watch 3 (since I’m a Pixel phone user)? Unfortunately, I can go plus/minuses for both.
Interesting.
One of the reasons I’m considering the Pixel Watch is the ability to use the native Watch app on the Pixel. With the Ticwatch, I have to use Mobvoi’s app. Not sure about the OnePlus. I also like the idea of timely updates, not just when Mobvoi feels like it.
As I said, there are pros/cons to each watch. I like the fact that the Ticwatch has the dual screen so you can always see the time. That was one of the reasons I got the 3 in the first place.
Well, my Ticwatch died again, this time permanently.
I ended up getting the 45mm Pixel Watch 3, though to be honest, I’m having a bit of buyer’s remorse. While I like the pure Android experience, there are some things that I’m not a fan of.
Instead of syncing the calendars from my phone, it uses Google Calendar and syncs directly. Unfortunately, a couple of my calendars aren’t in Google, but sync to the phone as local calendars. I had to get a 3rd party app, Business Calendar 2 that will sync to the watch. This is not a free app, but since I have Pixel Pass, it is included.
While the watch has a SpO2 sensor, the app that utlilizes it is Fitbit. Unfortunately, Fitbit only measures my Sp02 while I’m sleeping. I don’t normally wear my watch while sleeping. I’ve worn it just to see the measurements, along with the other sleep stuff, but I’m finding wearing the watch just too uncomfortable at night. I have not yet found another app that can do this. It seems that this is just the way it is.
I will say that it does charge quickly, so no need to leave it plugged in overnight to get fully charged. I’m also not a fan of needing to use Fitbit. The watch came with a trial of Premium, but since I have no plans to ever pay for it, I didn’t even start it. I don’t plan to return it, just wish I had more info, or knew what to look for specifically before buying it. But then again, the Ticwatch would have required the Mobvoi app, but wouldn’t use the native watch app.
