Pixel 6 looks good, but I was waiting on the watch which never appeared
If Google ever does a watch, I’ll be glad to see that, but for now, I’m happy with my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, since Sammy partnered with Google to make it.
Agree that the Samsung Watch 4 is excellent. Hard to see what Google could do different with their own watch TBH. I bought one half expecting to return it and stick with a Garmin. I’m even using Bixby to control it
My old watch stopped working so I’m ready to buy. My short list is now the Samsung or ticwatch 3 pro ultra.
Wow, somebody using Bixby!
Do either @Jamze or @MacPhyle use a Samsung phone? I have a pixel 5.
Well, one thing missing is a Gmail app. The workaround is Outlook, for whatever reason, but if much rather have Google’s own email app on my watch. And if much rather have Google’s Assistant rather than Bixby. Maybe some day…
My phone’s a Pixel 3a.
Bixby is actually quite good on the watch (and it doesn’t support Google voice yet - maybe Google are holding back a few features for their own watch). For stuff like set a timer, set an alarm, starting exercise tracking, even changing settings.
I have a Samsung S20 FE. There are some features that only work with a Galaxy phone I think, blood pressure and ECG need an app that is only in Samsung’s App Store.
Thanks, so do you still get notifications from Gmail on your watch? I’m not bothered about running the app on the watch I just want the notification. If it’s important I’m ok with using my phone from there.
My last watch had Google assistant on it and I rarely used it. I was quite interested in the health stuff so that’s disappointing I can’t get them from the okay store.
I get Outlook email and calendar notifications. My issue with Outlook is that it has to be installed on my phone to work on the watch, and the app on the phone wants to tell me about all incoming emails, even ones that aren’t important. Then, if one does come in that I want to respond to, I tap that Outlook notification because it shows up before the Gmail one does (why the lag, Google?) And then I’m mistakenly sending an email with Outlook when I’d rather be using Gmail. Oh well, I know - first world problems…
There is a modded version of the Samsung Health Monitor app people say works.
The watch can show any notification, including gmail. It will only show what’s configured on the phone though I think.
I’m very happy with my Ticwatch 3.
