G’day.
Can anyone recommend a good solid IRC client for Android? Something stable, reasonably featureful, and hopefully with an option to keep connections open in the background if I so desire. Bonus points for not looking awful, either 
I’m not fussed about it being paid (in fact I prefer to pay if it gets me a better experience), so long as it’s well maintained. But I strongly dislike subscription plans.

I’ve mentioned it elsewhere, and it may not be for everyone, but a friend loves Quassel on his Android and Linux desktop. The premise is you run the core and it stays connected for you, and you can switch devices and pickup where you left off. I’ve not personally used it, but he’s pretty hardcore on IRC and seems quite happy.
Another idea is to check out a cloud based solution (presumable using it in your browser.)
