It’s a hopeful song, I hope it’s not cynically so because it’s also tied to their new album release. They do say:
"Through September 2020, a portion of the streams of “Better Days” will be donated to MusiCares’ COVID-19 Relief Fund to help fellow artists whose livelihoods have been affected by the pandemic. "

Well the wrote and recorded it in the last week, so was probably a late addition to their new album. Of course it’ll also give them some publicity…
