I was disappointed by how consistently Leo stepped on Stacey every time she was making a point. She’d be setting up her answer, giving background, and he’d interrupt with a joke.
I don’t know if I’d necessarily agree with the point she was starting to make, but I would have liked her to have had the opportunity to fully make it.
You’re absolutely right. I got overheated. I apologize. And I’ll apologize to Stacy on Wednesday.
Thank you very much.
Don’t be too hard on Leo. The calming influence of Ant might have worked on Jeff, but you can tell Leo had like 72 hours (or however long) of pent up energy from not being on-air due to the power outage.
Which isn’t to say apologizing is a bad idea, but I think the context is important.
I know I can take a while to make my points, because I am a writer not a pundit, so have to work through them while I’m speaking. This can make for bad TV/radio. Meanwhile, Leo is very quick on his feet in synthesizing things. In most cases I appreciate his ability even if it does interrupt me. I’m trying to think.express myself more succinctly.
And you do a great job of that. Almost everything you say is thoughtful and insightful.
Welcome to the forums!
Maybe we can get Leo to switch to decaf?
Hey, he didn’t killy anyone; let’s not go that far.
Welcome Stacey!! And I promise to stop interrupting you. But I do not promise to quite coffee! See you tomorrow!
Great show. And I thought it was just Google.
@Leo, a simple request. Please, please, don’t say “cray cray”. I can’t even think of a PC way to explain why I ask that of you.
You worried me, so I looked it up on the Urban Dictionary.
Steming from the term “Crazy”, when Referring to someone as “Cray Cray”, signifies their craziness to a whole other level. The ultimate second power of crazy. This person can either be insane in the brain. Or simply, TOO DOWN. To the point where its not even cool anymore.
Boy: “Lets have a milk chugging contest”
Girl: “Ok No. Don’t get cray cray.”
As I said, I can’t come up with a PC way to put it. It’s not the meaning of the words, it’s how it sounds to a 69 year old born and raised in NYC male who cannot change how his mind works. I try very hard not to live as I was dragged up.
OK I’ll stop saying it. Is it that it sounds childish to you?
@Leo: I wanted to say that this last TWIG was one of the best episodes. Absolutely loved the discussion on China and US values. I also feel very enlightened after that episode.
This show also has one of the best panels!
Love the show, keep rocking!
That’s part of it, but there’s nothing wrong with sounding a bit childish at times, like when you talk like Rocky and Bullwinkle characters. It’s more the “A” lister sound that gets to me.
This is more like Russia claiming Alaska back, after its sale in 1867, and the people in Alaska saying they want to keep the freedoms they had under the US regime.
Hong Kong was a British colony for 100 years. It was guaranteed economic and civil freedom as part of the conditions of handing control back to China. Now the Hong Kong government seems to be turning into a puppet of mainland China and giving away those rights that the citizens were guaranteed.
Whether we think China’s government is better or worse, the people of Hong Kong were promised democracy and their government is slowly eroding that democracy for the tighter controls that China enforce on their mainland.
The goal to have one China is a sensible one, from their point of view. The way the current Hong Kong government and the Chinese government are going about it is heavy handed and breaks the agreements they signed when they regained control of the colony.
RE: Dark Mode
I think the addition of dark mode to apps and operating systems is great. However, that is not because I am someone that has to have all dark mode all the time. I like to have the option to use it.
I use dark mode in some apps but not all. In some situations with some apps, I like to have dark mode turned on because for some reason it makes the app easier to use. In other apps, I think the addition of dark mode makes the app impossible to use. It is all about what can make the functionality of an app better for me.
