Does anyone know how I can pin a MS Edge workspace to a Windows 11 task bar? Or have a specific workspace open by default when opening Edge? (Or is the second request the same as the first?)
I use workspaces but haven’t found a way to do that.
What you can do is right-click the Edge icon in the taskbar and it displays a list of recently used workspaces that you can click on to open them up. You can also pin workspaces to this list so they are always there.
Edit I did notice this Chromium command line switch, but assume this is something else as the workspaces we are discussing are an Edge feature.
–window-workspace Specify the initial window workspace: --window-workspace=id
There is a workaround here, on the Invite screen when in the workspace you want as your default, copy the link and make that the webpage Edge opens on startup in the settings.
Final edit, promise!
What you can do, of course, is once you have copied the URL of the workspace using the Invite feature, you can create a shortcut on your desktop that uses that URL.
Click on it, Edge opens with that workspace open only.
Thank you. Great suggestions!
No problem.
I quite like workspaces, it’s a useful way of managing lots of tabs and groups without having them all open all the time. It’s also coming to the mobile version of Edge I noticed. If you install the beta version, you can enable workspaces in edge://flags.
