“Is having a portable screen a good thing?”
I guess it depends. If the portable screen costs $3,000 - then no, it’s not. There is no use case except where money is not an object that one can justify a $3,000+ device for watching movies or playing games. If that device further requires an iPhone (like the Apple Watch does) - then that cost only goes up.
If Apple intends this to be a niche product, then fine. If they expect a level of mass adoption - then it will absolutely require a lower price point. The market is automatically a subset of those who own iPhones (like Apple Watches) - but, unlike Apple Watch, the entry point for that subset requires a substantially higher amount of money. In a nation where the medium household income is roughly $70,000 - I have a hard time seeing any major adoption of this product.
We’ll see what things look like when (or if) it’s finally announced. I could be wrong - and I’m off on several things here.
