Love TWIG - but more Google please!

TWiG was never just about google, despite the name of the show, the name of the show was a pun at the time of people thought google was the internet. This show subject is everything that surrounds what goes on about the internet itself. If you like it or not its isn’t simple politics there is a tech angle or the internet in general is connected to mostly whats is discussed on the show more and more. The internet in recently years is being used in politics and politicians more than ever. As Facebook has dominated the news cycle about the internet usage also. The show is what is has always been since its creation.

Can you focus more on this as the host? Maybe suggest this to @Leo and @JeffJarvis as a new spot.

I’d guess that the Google Cloud and integration stuff you mention would only be of interest to a tiny audience; ditto for G Suite. I’m at a G Suite company and I’m surprised to hear you characterize the amount of change as “immense”, but perhaps it’s because I’m only seeing it from the end-user/app/client standpoint, not from a tech/dev/IT standpoint. I look longingly at those monthly updates from the Office 365 team.

These are top notch suggestions :+1:t2:

But when Gina was in there was a LOT more Google than there is today

I watched the show in that time when Gina was on and I know they talked about other stuff besides google too. This is simple podcast network not a main stream TV network. Leos intent when he created the podcasts and the network was not to be like the strict TV format where everything had to be perfect polished and content followed a strict content matter and with a strict time period. Its Leo talking with his tech hosts and tech journalists on each of the shows like friends.

Personally I don’t mind the talk about other topics and companies. However, it does seem like Google is a small fraction on the conversation. I’m not suggesting the whole show be nothing but Google, but it should be a larger part of the show then it currently is. Also, @gigastacey is my favorite host on the show. She is the balance to older gents and brings a different perspective.

Though, not a Twit show you all might like the @gigastacey show The IoT podcast. More Stacey is a good thing.

Ten years ago, the hot topics were “Pulse and NY Times RSS, new Caffeine OS, iPhone 4 vs. Android, Google antitrust, and more.” After the intro and opening billboards and introductions, it was quite a ways into the episode before anyone said “Google” (other than the show name). At least 20% of the show! Driving Mr. Jarvis The show hasn’t changed that much. It has always tended to be more “This Week in Internet Stuff” than just Google.

It was always concieved as “Google and the Cloud” from the get-go. @Leo explained that dozens of times over the years. There isn’t enough Google content each week to make a whole show.

Same for me too. I really enjoy TWIT and TWIG. TWIG is different as it has fixed hosts. I enjoy the interactions between the personalities of Stacey, Jeff and Leo and the topics covered.

I can understand that the show name causing issues as you would rightly expect the show to be about Google and if that is the reason you listen to the show you will be disappointed in the amount of Google content. Leo often says that TWIG is not really just about Google but the show name will always cause this friction.

Politics talk does not bother me but the interrupting, particularly of Stacey’s point of view/replies is irritating as much as I enjoy Jeff and Leo’s point of view. I do it too when I am excited or interested in a subject matter. Luckily I have my wife to correct my behavior with a reminder ever now and then when required with a little secret sign.

I would like more Google news/talk too but I also would not want to lose what TWIG is/has become either.

Felt a lot more like Google to me - maybe it was that Gina did the Change Log (da da daaaaa) - and it was all Google stuff??!
