Well that’s a blast from the past. Welcome doc.
Awesome name / pic.
The TWiT Minecraft server still lives. I’m running it from my house. If you want to take a peek message me here and I’ll whitelist you. (That goes for anyone by the way.)
I am 47 and have a 12 year old son. I have 4 computers at home (3 Chrome computers and a Win 10 laptop), along with a few phones and a android tablet.
I work as a probation officer - I have done that job for 20 years now. But, I have been in the criminal justice field for 28 years now (I started at age 19 - while in college). I have a criminal justice degree and a general studies degree.
I got my first computer back in 1988 - a Tandy 1000HX. One of the first DOS computers that did NOT need a floppy to boot into DOS (old DOS 2.11). But, I did also get an old Atari game system back in 1st or 2nd grade.
In college, I did some computer tech support for a few people and a business, and I learned how to build computers.
I actually had a Gateway 2000 486 PC - and I had so many problems with it that they sent a repair tech to my house to replace parts 11 different times. That was how I learned how to build systems. I watched the repair guy, and I asked questions. They (Gateway) ended up giving me a refund after a while.
Those were the days - back when they would send techs to your house for repairs.
After that refund, I ended up spending $3k on a Dell Pentium 90. Top of the line at the time…
I miss the days of the Computer Shopper magazine. And, there were so, so many different computer companies at the time. I’ve owned systems from IBM, Gateway 2000, Dell, Quantex, Midwest Micro and Dell… Since then, I’ve owned a bunch of HPs. But, it was fun to call these smaller places and spec out the exact system you wanted… All for a great price. Or, you could build your own system…
Now, with the age of $300-$400 desktops and $400-something laptops, it really isn’t worth building your own system anymore.
When I moved to Texas in 1996, I actually tried to get hired by some of the local computer companies. Came close a time or two - but each time, they always asked the same thing…
“Why aren’t you a cop?” All my job experience had been in the criminal justice field, and I had a criminal justice degree. I actually wanted to break out of that…
Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. And, I’ve stayed in the criminal justice field. Had I made the shift over to computers, I probably would not have all the back and knee issues I have, from past injuries. Oh well - can’t go back in time…
Windows weekly was my first podcast never missed a podcast since. have now included Android weekly, and most recently Twig to my weekly shows all 3 have a good mixture of presenters who are enjoyable to hear and watch ( First time I herd Leo I thought this guy has the perfect presenting voice )
hobby compter user since Commodore 64 - Amiga - PC (AMD first) (windows) now a windows user and Linux newbie
Leo indeed has a great voice. Not quite Chyrosran22 level soothing, but excellent.
Ah never heard of him he does have a good voice . I’ll check out some of his videos

Hi All,
I was a loner, and outcast, a nobody. I was flipping through the channels one night in 2001 and came across TechTV, a channel my cable company added that week. I saw the Screen Savers and, quite frankly, was saved. I now have a community.
Thank you, @Leo , and now @ant_pruitt and the incredible other hosts and staff. I love you, family.
Hello TWiT Army,
I’m am Berntech in the chatroom, you find me in there all the time. First found Leo on ZDTV/TechTV back in late 1998 when our cable added ZDTV to the channel lineup. I watch it everyday this channel was amazing! When TechTV was fading out and went to G4 I hated it. Leo was gone, and others too I was disappointed and after few years without my Tech watching on TV I was missing Leo, Patrick and the rest of the gang. So one day I was really like I was wondering were did Leo go so I did a search on google and I found something about “The Tech Guy” radio program. I have been live on the radio show a couple of time over the years. So I found the stream for it on the weekend and there was Leo in the Cottage in the upstairs room, I thought this radio show filled my tech needs again and it was great! Shortly after that he had started “TWiT” his podcast network in the cottage downstairs. I have been watching TWiT and Leo since the beginning it has been great watching it grow over the years from the move from the Cottage to the Brickhouse and now to today at the East Side Studios. Sadly the one I wanted to do is visit the Cottage and the Brickhouse but was never able maybe sometime I will be able to get to the East Side Studios. Anyway thanks to all of the TWiT staff keep up the great work.
I myself sadly have been getting life back together since 2015 , career in Tech, personal life after 2 family members developed cancer around the same time period became a caregiver for the first time, they both passed away in the summer 2016, 2017 and had to move after that, it has been really rough when your life is messed up. Having TWiT around to watch has helped some getting through this still have a ways to go. Anyway see you guys in the chatroom, this new forum and on the stream I usually watch live most of the time.

Thanks, man. All the best to you. Here’s to you
Hi… I’m joining the TWiT Community party a little late, but just wanted to say hi to everyone!
I’m the cohost of Windows Weekly (coming up on 8-plus years for me!). I also blog at ZDNet as AllAboutMicrosoft.com I have been a tech journalist my entire career. I also am a huge craft beer fan. If you ever need recommendations, especially of New York City craft brews, or have beer suggestions for me, I am all ears!
Nice to meet everyone virtually! And hopefully, one day, in person!
Hey TWiT fam!
I have been a listener for a short time(3 years) compared to most of y’all. Anyway, I love all the shows but mostly listen to TWiG, Triangulation, and AAA. Love that Ant is around all the time now.
I work in aerospace at Kennedy Space Center and I love what I do!
Thanks for creating a cool community.
As far as I know, nothing existed before I was born. I have no proof there was anyway. I have also concluded that the second I die, everything will cease. Everything. Between those two times it’s up to me to entertain myself. Sometimes everything seems unreal. There is nothing I can imagine, and I mean nothing, that isn’t wonderful and amazing. I wish I could recall every second element I chose to. Wait, is this the Alan Watts forum? Oops… sorry.
Hi you all! I watch TWIG for years. I live in The Netherlands and make websites in Google Sites. I am a total Google freak because I really like to be independent from hardware suppliers. With every new app coming to the market I ask myself; how would I do that using Google apps. And, not entirely surprisingly, many things you can do with Google. It makes my live easier, so thanks Google. And thanks TWIT for being such a valuable source of information! Although I must say I miss Gina Trapani…
Interesting how convoluted my thinking is. Since the world only exists in my mind, I actually came up with you, and your input.
Please don’t UN-think me right now. I have taxes to pay Tuesday…
I’ve been a fan of @Leo and TWIT since the first iPad came out. I drank the Apple Kool Aid. Listening to Leo, I’ve managed to accumulate four Amazon Alexa devices, two Mac mini’s, an iPad, two Amazon tablets, an iPhone, Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku and probably a few other things.
Originally from the Boston area (it snows there), I moved to Sedona, Arizona 30 years ago. I’m recently retired and living in a senior housing complex. Life is good and I finally have time to do all the things I never had time to do.
My favorite show is MacBreak but I also have The Tech Guy on every weekend on Roku while I putter around the house.
So great to finally really meet everyone. Blessings and good health to all!
I love Alan Watts. His book This is It transformed me for a moment in time.
Hmm, the whole concept of UN-thinking something!!
I’ll work on un-thinking the IRS.
Sort of like turning lead into gold and a hippopotamus.
Of course I can’t dismiss the possibility that in (ethereal) fact it’s me imagining you imagining me and I could in fact cause you’re entire disappearance at will. I would never do that though… unless I felt like It. This thread can serve no purpose anymore to paraphrase HAL and/or HENRY Fonda in Failsafe. Let this thread end in the make of all that’s useless.
