Blocking Unwanted Messages in iOS

This last Christmas we purchased an iPhone SE for my 8 year old son with AT&T as the carrier. Now we receive extremely vulgar text messages on that number. We block the numbers as they come up, but it’s just a game of whack-a-mole.

Is there anyway to make an iPhone ONLY allow messages from contacts?

You’re awesome. I went with the article on Screen Time and that did the trick. I’ve been reading and visiting useless forums for Apple and no one came up with this solution. Thank you so much
