What are you playing?

Been enjoying No Man’s Sky. Crazy how much the game has improved since launch.

I just got a gaming laptop after being a console gamer for years. Currently I’m playing:

  • Elite Dangerous
  • Skyrim Nexus (installing mods as much as playing the game)
  • Paladins (on and off)

Meanwhile my wife is totally addicted to Red Dead Online on PS4. I never saw that coming!

Haven’t played it last few weeks, but No Man’s Sky and Borderlands 2 (in anticipation of getting Borderlands 3). Been busy with some computer projects, but likely going back into No Man’s Sky when I pick up a Valve Index sometime in the next month or two.

Really enjoying Sea of Thieves, now as for shooters been getting sucked into Paladins and Spellbreak. Occasionally I’ll hop into Overwatch.

Anyone here deleting their Blizzard accounts due to them bending over for Chinese money? Personally I do not have any Blizzard games/accounts and I’m now totally okay with that.

Just finshed the playing through all the Halo games
Destiny 2
Wizards Unite and Candy Crush(dont judge too hard)

And planning a good (real) old fashioned Halo 2 Lan Party! (IF the xboxes still work) :innocent:

The topic of American companies censoring Chinese issues was brought up on this week’s TWiT, so I talked about this briefly here.

Having thought about it a bit, I don’t have a problem with Blizzard not wanting politics on their broadcasts. This is seen in other sports, for example Fifa bans the wearing of political symbols during football matches. That being said, the fact that the rule that Blizzard said was broken was a catch-all rather than specific ban on politics, and the grossly disproportionate response (1 year ban, confiscation of prize money, firing both casters) suggests that this isn’t Blizzard taking typical action against a rule violation, but an attempt to keep the Chinese authorities (and therefore money) happy.

Currently I’m playing Minecraft with my 9yo daughter and GTA:SA when the kids aren’t looking.

I’m going to have to install a second hard drive on my laptop and dedicate it to Red Dead Redemption 2 when it releases on PC next month

And it will likely take me until 2020 to download this monster of a game…

Overwatch Xbox - Always. Never ever get tired of it. And I’m a fan of the esports OW League as well. This is my main jam.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Xbox - Always have one open world game going and this is my current one. Love the graphics. Beautiful.

Clash Royale Mobile - This is my go to phone game. Love this game. Quick, no big alliance pressure. Just pure fun.

Currently playing:

  • Control
  • Hitman 2
  • Project Cars 2
  • Elite Dangerous
  • Mario Kart 8
  • Tetris 99
  • Rainbow 6 Siege

I can’t recommend Control enough. This is by the same writer who did Alan Wake. It’s got a bit of an X-Files vibe to it, and the gameplay is really fun.

I’m not an FPS fan… I always get nauseous.

I’ve not been able to catch much OWL recently, but used to watch quite a bit.

Do you support a specific team?

At the moment my game choice is a bit scattered and irregular as I prepare to BBQ my way into and though the up-coming New Zealand summer.
I started out playing RPG games with Neverwinter many years ago and the addiction set in…
(obviously too much time on my hands. hmm, is that bad…)

Neverwinter (1+ years)
WoW (3 months – lot of crashes and online freezing, so moved to EQ2)
EQ2 (5-6 years – lot’s of content and opens up past L20)
Baldur’s Gate
LotRO
GW2
FF14
& Harry Potter: Wizard’s Unite (a first attempt at a iOS & Android phone game)

With EQ2, LotRO, GW2 and FF14 one of the first things I did was max out all the crafts available.
Mixed into the above was some Wolfenstein, Doom and FarCry 1st person shooters, though I prefer RPG.
Also like classic board & card games for relaxation.

Two years ago my main gaming machine died and I bought an xBox One S (my 1st ever console and a quick fix) Strangely enough I find myself not only using it for games but also for apps. Just wish I could find a good browser and have a keyboard with mouse function. Maybe the keyboard is starting to be available (not sure) but like many devices, it would be nice to use it as a limited form of a desktop replacement. (and at a much lower cost as well)

I’m thinking that next year in 2020 between a newer xBox, PS5, the mobile phone DeX environments, Apple, Android, Google and Chromebooks we will be saturated in entertainment choices, not only on the hardware side but the software as well. Do I scale down or jump into this wonderful but scary time sink… Guess time will tell.
