I love the first photo and the third one is nicely framed as well. The swan looks like a typical oversampled “zoom” mode on a modern smartphone.
Had to use phone zoom swan was floating away. Shoon it will have “babies”

Love that first photo!
Mine is both siren and enforcer in one Sometimes too much siren.
They look good! (Adding this to meet the 20 character minimum)
They’re sweet, right? I don’t know if I’ve ever actually had proper scones, though my mom used to make something like them as a base for strawberry shortcake. I make savoury buttermilk biscuits that look similar but are usually served (at my house anyway) with soups and stews. Apparently Brits call biscuits what we in North America call cookies, and if they wanted to refer to the kind of biscuit I would make they would call them American biscuits.
They are relatively neutral. These ones have saltanas in them, but you can also make them savoury with cheese, for example. The recipe is fairly simple and they are baked in about 15 minutes.
No. Typically they are pretty simple and are more like bread than cake. Most often (at least in Australia) they are served with jam and cream. Personally, I’ve never been fond of them, but I’ve also never had them with saltanas in them.
I think of them as a food that my Grandmother would make to go along with a cup of tea. I have memories of her eating them at morning tea with her lady friends.
My Grandmother would be 111 in December if she were still alive, so her way of life was heavily influenced by WWII and the Great Depression. I bring this up because scones are a pretty simple food and were probably quite popular when ingredients were scarce.
This I understood… but every scone recipe I found had a half cup of sugar or more. The biscuit recipe I make has no sugar at all. It’s a variation of the following recipe (which I like because of the simple measures) but instead of lard I use cool butter cubed. I use a dough cutter to mix it in, its a really sticky and doughy recipe, so you use some flour on a biscuit cutter to cut them for baking. Sadie's Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe
That probably tastes better, but this is the kind of scone I was describing:
As I thought, it is a pretty simple recipe and only a tablespoon of sugar.
And I have not uploaded a photo for ages. My Mum says this is Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.
Not my photo, but it somehow seems appropriate for the times, and it’s a good excuse to introduce you to unsplash if you weren’t aware
