It sounds like they are taking on the counterfeit market, not the gray market? Or are they doing both?

(Gray market is imports of original equipment from cheaper regions being sold for less than the normal price for the region - we had that with Apple in the UK in the 80s and 90s, a gray import from America was about half the price of Apple’s official UK prices (a $2,000 Mac in the USA would sell for between $4,000 and $6,000 in the UK, so the imported version from the States could be sold for $3,000, making the importer a healthy profit, whilst the customer got a cracking deal for original equipment, although Apple were very unhappy with the situation).


good point - gray market and counterfeit are different issues altogether. perhaps we need advice on each aspect separately. For example, if gray market product is the real mccoy, is there a warranty issue?
