RIP Kenny Rogers

I admit, I haven’t really listened to him much since the 1980s. But as a kid and a teen, my parents played his music all the time. And, I liked several of his songs. I also remembered him in that Six Pack racing movie as a kid.

Sorry to hear that he passed. Seemed like a very nice guy too.

Sad news. As a kid, he played my tiny home town with Dolly Parton around the “Islands in the Stream” time frame. My mom was a fan, so I saved up a bunch of my news paper delivery money (a lot of money for a kid) and sent my mom and her then boyfriend to see him in concert.

Probably his most memorable lyric line: “You gotta know when to hold 'em. You gotta know when to fold 'em.”

Which got changed to “you picked a fine to leave me loose wheel.”
