Then I moved on to the best band of all time:
We went to this community pool as kids and the summer that came out Pour Some Sugar On Me was played on the juke box every 10 minutes When I hear that song now I swear I smell chlorine and hot dogs.
Hall and Oates: Voices
Saved my allowance and bought the first Beatles albumā¦and I still have have it! Itās in somewhat rough shape as I played the hell out of it and loaned it out to various friends.
I still own all the original Beatles albums and all the early Rolling Stones! Boxes of LPs are stored away. Someday I will purchase a turntable again to play them in all their scratchy goodness! To this day, certain songs that had a skip on the record ā¦well, I sing the skip!
Def Leppard was a band almost everyone liked or at least respected, regardless of clique or genreā¦they had an incredibly clean sound and amazing hooks. Journey as well.
Thatās awesome
I played that very song in the car the other day, and later my 3 year old son kept asking for the āHam and Sugarā song. We had a good laugh.
And now they have their own pop figures!
I bet that was a killer show.
The first cassettes I remember begging my parents for was a collection of old time radio shows. When I was 9 or so, a local FM station would play old time radio shows on Thursday nights, and I got hooked on them. So, yeah, nerd alertā¦
Showing my age here but as best I can remember first few LPs
The Who Live at Leeds
CSNY dejaVu
Led Zeppelin I and II
I have hundreds of vinyl, CDs and tapes most of which I am having trouble getting rid of, even though I have ripped or digitally recorded about 75% of them. Much to my wifeās chagrin. I still occasionally play vinyl. But mostly stream from my Plex server or online services.
Michael-Jackson Thriller. My dad bought this cassette for meā:joy: I think have 8 years old.
The first one I bought was the EP mixes of The Space Brotherās āEverywhere I Goā closely followed by Alanis Morrissetteās āJagged Little Pill,ā both from the Virgin Megastore in Times Square. Though, I fondly remember the days sitting in the basement at my parents house listening to 8 Tracks of Meatloaf or my grandparentās house listening to Dusty Springfield on the turntable.
Thank you for the trip down memory lane. I think Iāll go queue up some of those songs right now!
Pink Floyd - The Wall. On cassette. Think I was only about 7 years old.
Mine was "The Beatles - Hey Jude/Revolution 45. Bought at Target in Crystal Minnesota
One of my favourite Beatles songs.
Iām not sure I believe most of you. Your first albums are far too cool to be realā¦
The first music item I ever bought (or got my mother to buy for me) was the Turtle Power cassette single. link:
I brought it to primary school on the last day of the year and was the coolest kid in class. It was stolen before the end of the day.
Quite a lot of awesome music mentioned here
