I was given a Macbook Pro (Mid-2009) model yesterday. I’m noticing Apple only officially supports El Capitan on it. Was wondering if anyone in this fine tech community had any ideas what I should with this newly acquired piece of tech. I’d love it if I could find a way to get a newer Mac OS installed on it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is the first Mac I’ve ever received. Have always been windows. I essentially wanted to try Mac for the ability to message like I was on my phone from a laptop.
Linux is always an option if you’re not content with whatever version of MacOS you can install on it.
Suggest you look at the category MacOS Catalina on unsupported Macs within this community. It explains about a great resource from dosdude1 which allows you to install newer MacOS versions on older machines. Works well.
