Another tough point-and-shoot zoom camera I’d look at is the OM System TG7.
Similar idea to Leo’s Pentax, bit less resolution, 100mm equiv zoom, but better focusing and stability I think. Shoots RAW too, which the Pentax can’t do.

I had an ad last week about a deal on the Olympus Pen, but that’s not weather sealed, micro four-thirds and interchangeable lenses. It was half-price with the pancake 14-42mm lens, plus a free prime lens. I use one for travel, but don’t need the weather sealing.
TBH though, if it was the holiday of a lifetime, I’d be taking my DSLR and something like an 18-300mm lens + prime.
