I’ve been using Pocket Casts for a long time as my Podcast player. I bought it on MacOS, iOS, and Android, and have a grandfathered lifetime subscription.
But, I’m sure as many have noticed, a lot of Podcasts are moving to YouTube. And YouTube Music now claims to have Podcast support. Some Podcasts I listen to will air first on YouTube and then a month later will show up in their traditional RSS feed.
Last night, I set up a few YouTube podcasts in YouTube Music, but haven’t tried to set up any traditional RSS feed style podcasts in YouTube music. But if I could get it working, then it may give me the best of both worlds, since I’d be able to listen to my regular podcasts and my YouTube podcasts in one app, and I’d get a web-based interface to manage the stuff.
In 2024, I can no longer recommend Pocket Casts to anyone because of the massive price increases. $40/year for a Podcast client is a lot of money.
Totally agreed. I was paying simply to support the product, not because I found any of the premium features useful. I cut them off with the price increase.
I was a Google podcast user for years, but moved to pocket casts when Google podcast was merged into YouTube music.
I wanted to keep my podcast separate from music etc so just went with pocket casts since most people seemed to rate it. I don’t pay for premium, certainly not at that price.
