Listening to the episode now and something Paul said resonated with me. He talked about when his kids learned the real meaning of “we’ll see”. I remember vividly asking my dad “what do you mean by we’ll see? do you mean no? and if you mean no, why not just say no?”. Eventually he moved to “i’ll think about it” and it took me a little longer to ask the same thing. what’re we thinking about?! give me the pros&cons list, dad! haha
I’ve never been good with a we’ll see or a maybe. If I’m trying to make plans with a friend and they give me “maybe”, I straight up ask "what do you mean? are you waiting to see if you get better plans? are you going to check your availability? what does maybe mean? it should be a yes or no if you want to hangout. because the question wasn’t “can”, it was desire. "
If I can’t get a straight answer I always default to no/the worst
