WW 887: You're Drinking Wood!

Beep boop - this is a robot. A new show has been posted to TWiT…

What are your thoughts about today’s show? We’d love to hear from you!

I find it funny how we have to legislate back to how things were fifteen years ago. I’ve always found it strange how the US focuses on consumer harm in anti-trust while those in Europe focus on harm to competitors because, in my head, they do the same thing. To use the Spotify example, the fact that Apple would charge them for giving users an option to subscribe in the app store would mean that Spotify would have to charge the end user more or absorb the cost,
You might, therefore, be tempted to go with Apple Music over Spotify. If enough people did that, it would put Spotify out of business, restricting user choice.
Would people not still subscribe to MS Teams if they were the same price as Slack on the basis that it integrates seamlessly with the rest of your tools

It must be a culture thing, in Europe, we’ve always said, look, the EU protects the consumer, the US just protects big business…

Really looking forward to trying a Snapdragon X Elite laptop. Been very happy with my 12th-gen Intel for the last two years, suits me fine but cooler running and longer battery life would be great, and if that is accompanied by the performance improvements they are suggesting, I might upgrade soon.

I think you’ll find it very nice - I did for sure when I went from my Intel Macs to my Apple Silicon Macs - HUGE difference

I hope with this new push for AArch64 again from Windows; Blizzard finally push the Battle.net client to have native binaries. I’ve enjoyed native ARM versions of WoW (namely Classic on my Macbook Air) but I’m a weird “purist” and always close Battle.net since it’s an Intel app on mac still.

I’m sure the AArch64 version of WoW exists on Windows, but I have a feeling Battle.net is still a classic type of app.
