What would really make social media healthier to use

Every major socmed and news site should provide an option for the user to completely hide comment sections and replies from their own view.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bonus if there’s a 24-hour wait period between when the user disables the option and comments become visible to them again.

It’s not really social media if there’s no interaction.

Also, you can already hide comments on websites via a browser extension if you don’t want to see them.

That’s what I use on my desktop and within the mobile version of Firefox. It’s not a real answer, though:

  1. There’s nothing like that for apps, unless you were to adapt a VPN-based ad blocker for the purpose. Most people access socmed via apps.
  2. iOS users don’t have as many options in the browser extension department.
  3. Users who aren’t tech-savvy shouldn’t have to fiddle with esoteric third-party workarounds.
