Had my granddaughter over yesterday. She is 7.5 months old and hat great fun bashing away at Garage Band on my iPad. 
Although she quickly discovered the “scrunch” gesture to switch to the app viewer and brought up my email and Twitter feed!

And they say gestures are not discoverable on iPad! 
My 8yo used Garage Band on the iPad to make some tracks for little home movies she made in iMovie.

I used Audacity for years to convert, edit, merge, or split audio files. Then Father Robert mentioned that the new owners of the app had changed the privacy policy in a controversial way. After some research I found that Garage Band does pretty much all the audio editing I need and is also free. So I switched.
