uBlock Origin Lite is getting a Safari port!

Haven’t seen this mentioned in a lot of places around the web, but I just found out last night and I’m kinda hyped:

Looks like the situation has improved vastly, and TLDR uBO Lite is available in Test Flight today for all the Cupertino OS’s

that’s awesome!!! It’ll make using my Mac a lot better. I use Firefox on Windows but Safari on iOS / Mac.

I just installed this on my iPad and I think it actually might be an even bigger paradigm shift for me on iPadOS. I never really dabbled with extensions on my iPad prior to this.

I forgot I actually have a basic adblocker already on macOS that I never really felt comfortable installing on my iPad (Adblock Plus)

Nice. Firefox Focus has a built in Safari ad blocker which I use. That + NextDNS seems to work pretty well.

+1 for NextDNS. I used to use a PiHole at home, but I switched to NextDNS this year, so that it covers my devices when I’m out and about as well.

I also managed to set it up on my Unifi router, so everything in the house gets the NextDNS restrictions and then the profile is also on my iPhone and iPad individually.

I’ve been considering NextDNS but I want to be able to filter based on device (I work for a Marketing team, at home some days, so I need to whitelist a lot of crap). Been happily using Brave for years but I want to give Safari a fair shake since it’s the browser I’m already paying for. Benchmarks between WebKit and Blink are so close these days that either one is fine.

You can set up multiple profiles and assign them to different devices. I haven’t tried it yet, though, so I can’t comment on how well/easy it works.

Alternatively, given that the free tier allows for a lot of DNS calls, you could set up a second account for the work device.

I have this same setup, and it works well. I don’t use ublock anymore.

I have the same setup - NextDNS on my router and profiles on my devices. Works quite well for me.
