I did similar but over a long time frame, started a decade ago counting calories with MyFitnesPal. I started around 310lbs (140kg) and now in the 160s (75kg) so more of just maintaining but what is amazing to me is that I can pretty much do all the counting in my head now but I still log! Wild that after all the ups and downs, the simplicity of calories in vs calories out was the solution that worked.

Yes, in total I’m down from 160Kg to 90Kg, I went from 160 to 120 in 2007, held the 120-125 for nearly a decade, then lost the rest since December last year.

@Leo ‘s update removed my original comment:

I’ve just reached my target weight, so congratulations to Nicolas, I know how hard it can be.

I’ve used an app (Yazio) with AI. I record all my calories and if I am preparing fresh food (80%) or using pre-packaged food (15%), I just enter the products or scan the bar codes, when I go somewhere and get a meal or in a restaurant, the AI looks at a photo and works out how many calories it has.

It is fairly accurate, although it thought my yoghurt with fresh fruit was a strawberry tartlet with pudding… But generally it is fairly accurate.

I’ve dropped from 125Kg to 90Kg, so 35Kg or 77lbs since last December. I’m now using the app to try and work out how many calories I need to ingest to keep my current weight, but it is yo-yoing up and down at the moment (80,6-91Kg). I can eat somewhere between 1,800 and 2,000 calories a day, less and I lose weight, more and I gain weight. Finding the sweet spot is difficult, but my goal is to keep my weight around the 90Kg mark, and only start to really worry if it gets back up to 95Kg, then I’ll have to be strict about what I eat again.
