It is really difficult to understand why the US Government is so anti-business, especially Big Tech. People point fingers at, for example, the EU for switching away from Big Tech, but it isn’t really out of free will, the US Government has shown why governments and companies outside the USA shouldn’t rely on Big Tech.

Roku was the best budget device by far but I guess now I’m going to recommend nothing but ATVs to people. Pricey but they really are the best.

I think the nVidia shield is a good option for people not in the Apple ecosystem. It’s still receiving support all these years later. The only downside for me, is not every OTT service I would like to use has a GoogleTV app, so I can’t get them. That’s really on the service provider of course, but there is no way they would be willing to ignore Apple so the Apple support is likely better in that regard. But all the major apps are there of course, and probably more than were even on Roku.

Yeah, I love the Shield, but the lack of support for some of the key streamers is kind of a problem. That’s why I still use Apple TV most of the time.

I’ve never owned a Shield so I can’t comment much on it, but given its age and price I’m tempted to steer my normie friends towards ATVs.

The bigger concern to be honest is whether or not NVIDIA is still in the “consumer streaming box” game at all. Hell, are they in the “consumer” game!? I see some folks genuinely worry about that…
