I was disappointed to learn on TWIT that X rolled back its account location feature (shocked actually). Something did not seem right so as with most news sources, I went seeking “more truth”.
Of course, it’s 100% not true. They had issues with Starlink and VPN signups. Literally the first story in my google search uncovered this. Click on the join date its all there.

During the live show, I was a bit surprised to hear they say they turned the feature off because it was always working for me. I can see the region I am from, as well as others.
I thought about posting it in the forums, but I didn’t listen to the full show (I stopped listening around the X discussion) and I didn’t really wanna post just to correct a show I didn’t fully watch. I don’t mind agreeing with you, though. I thought maybe they rolled it back exclusively in the US. I’m in Canada so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. But I did notice their confident mistake. And it is a bit disappointing nobody checked. I don’t know if the feature worked differently before. But I had no issues finding or noticing it when I was on my profile yesterday.
I’m not interested at all in X, but it does seem like they had some “difficulties” of some sort.

It was Starlink and VPN users that were affected is what I read from a couple stories.
In any case its a good thing. I’m guessing that it will become SOP for all social media. Preferably with filters.
