It was interesting that the general consensus on the new AI screen reading feature in Android is, mostly positive, yet nobody drew the parallel to Microsoft Recall, which is essentially the same thing.
Microsoft: We have Recall, it will do screen grabs and process them locally, everything stays on the machine!
Public: This is a security nightmare!
Google: Hold my beer, we’re gonna send the results to the cloud!
Public: oooh, shiny!
Paris did point out the safety issues some way into the discussion, but the general chat was about how useful it could be, until it came to her usecase and reporters’ need to keep everything safe and secure offline.
