For KJ (and @Leo )…you can place and receive phone calls from a Samsung Watch4. Either just ask Bixby to ‘call Fred’, or you can pick a contact from a list of recent calls or your contacts. Works well, I use it when my phone is in my bag. I thought all Wear watches did this. 
If you have earbuds connected to your phone it will hand-off to the phone + earbuds. Otherwise, it uses the watch mic and speaker.
Agree though, see what the Pixel one is like, and the Watch5 is out soon too.
