Trying to setup Plex server

Hey

I’m trying to setup Plex server on windows 10

But error code “The installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file. C:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Plex Media Server”

I just reinstall Windows 10

I made a drive for just c:/ 80 gb size

I made a drive for data files and programs.

Do I need to install Plex server on c drive or can I installed it on the data folder.

Please let me know

Thanks
For any help that you can give me

Chris

Down load the server from here:

When you run it, you will get a screen with an Options button, like so:
PlexServerInstallOptions
Click the options button and you should see the choice to set the install directory, which defaults to C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server:
PlexServerInstallFolder

I haven’t run Plex Media Server on Windows for ages. I have it running on my Linux box and forgotten about relocating the install in Windows…

I didn’t know if I could put my email

@Topgun007007 We don’t want everyone to have your personal email address. That’s why we removed it.

I just hope @Leo dedicates a segment on Ask The Tech Guy showing how he sets his up when that new super-duper tuner is available. I’ve given up on trying to set mine up for now. It’s a bit more than just plug 'n play!

Hey
I got the Plex server working

How do I delete the post from here
Thanks
For all the help and support

Just leave it - that is the point of a forum. Even if you get your answer - you don’t go back and delete all traces after.

Glad you got it worked out!
