Great book and great discussion - thank you for this! I found several insights really instructional - e.g., how Andy came up with the overarching story arc (spoiler hereafter) (from dark matter to astrophage to best not get this onto our sun to that’s the story) .
The Kindle version is on sale for $6.99 on amazon.com right now, and the audible version is a $7.49 if you have the Kindle version.
INCOMING RANT: Whereas the audible version is normally $29.95 by itself, so it’s essentially "buy the audible version and we’ll pay you $14.47 to take the Kindle version.
Now that the movie will be released on March 20, 2026, now is a good time to give a shout-out to this great Triangulation episode. RIP, Triangulation.
Amazon has arranged for a preview day for Amazon Prime members on Monday, March 16. If you quiz your favorite AI, it will tell you how to get tickets via Fandango for that date. There are still tickets available locally – probably for other US locales, too.
It seems that all of the reviews are already published; Rotten Tomatoes already has 129 critic reviews published. Go Andy, and please publish your next book already.
I loved Project Hail Mary…great book
Will Jordan (The Critical Drinker) posted this 90-minute interview on March 25, 2026. Will is also a writer; there’s detailed discussion of all three of Andy’s novels. Based on his familiarity with Critical’s shows, Andy was clearly a fan of Critical’s popular movie and TV reviews. He parroted Will’s signature go away now at the end of this video. ![]()
The fact that some random YouTuber organized a boycott of PHM simply because of this interview speaks volumes about today’s broken society. The discussion on social media about Matt’s failed initiative is priceless. I’m grateful for his attempt: I learned about Critical’s interview because of that wonky conversation. Thanks, Matt and @Nerdrotic.
