SOPA/PIPA Back from the Dead?

Remember the Stop Online Piracy Act from the early 2010s that set the internet alight? Major online properties including Google and Wikipedia protested this overly aggressive legislative scheme to combat online piracy.

Well, the EFF says the Motion Picture Association is back at it again. They’re working with members of congress to put together new legislation. I can only imagine the MPA feels that the temperature of those online properties has changed and now is the time to strike. That the likes of Google won’t come running to support the public like they did before. And given the litigation and financial pressures tech giants face now, I’m worried the MPA might be correct.

Will the public backlash against this ridiculous censorship be enough without the support of silicon valley?
