Since he likes the Sanbox, I wonder what Steve would think of https://www.qubes-os.org/
Steve & Leo,
Here is another Sandbox program to consider.
Sandboxie-Plus
I just use the free portable version V1.15.11
I tried the Windows Version a while ago. Did not like it.
I prefer Sandboxie. Its been around for a long time.
You can very easily run your browser of choice in
a Sandbox. You will see a green border around the window when you move your cursor to the top of the screen so you know your Sandboxed.
Did not really understand why Steve would want to upgrade his
Windows 7 machine to Win 10 as support for it ends in Oct. 25.
He has a Microsoft License so he can use Win 11 Enterprise with a lot of the crap striped out of it compared to Win 11 Pro.
Win Pro being a business OS should never have all that Microsoft garbage added to it including Telemetry & the ability to pick the Windows Updates we want like Win 7.
I don’t need to do any Testing as I always do my research on a program before I use it. (If available I will also always try the Portable version first before I decide to install it) I also have a Clean Image of my SSD.
With regards to short cert shelf life; I was initially going to come here and bemoan what seemed like a future wherein Steve continually complains about this as it rolls out, simply dismissing it because he can’t see a need for it (for the record, I don’t either but “everything’s working fine” is not a valid argument in the IT world. How often do we discover that things weren’t fine?). However, hearing that the Apple voter is a friend of yours (and hopefully soon, the show) made me very excited.
PLEASE get that guy, or any voting members, on the show. Surely the vote wouldn’t be so close to unanimous if there wasn’t a valid reason this was worth the effort.
For the record, I’m using certbot and have it on auto for my web server, so this isn’t going to affect me at all. Steve has a fun Sunday coding session to look forward to, because at least one of those 10 Windows Server implementations will work just fine… or he’ll fall down the rabbit hole code his own!
