Restoring Note & Photo from Time Machine > 30 days

Sent this in to Ask the Tech Guys just last week. Looks like they ran out of emails. And weird that my email doesn’t get on the show. Sent other emails before about other topics, but seems to get lost in the mail. Oh well.

So here’s my question that I sent in:
I deleted a note several months ago beyond the 30 day limit of restoring from deleted Notes. Is there any way to use Time Machine to bring back that note? On that same note (pardon the pun), is this even possible with emails in Mac Mail and photos in Photos?

I think I remember when Time Machine first came out, I could simply go to the app on my Mac, and then enter Time Machine and go back several months and restore a specific email or photo. Looks like I can’t do that anymore?

I don’t think Time Machine has ever worked the way you describe, as it gives you a file interface so won’t understand a notes database or Photos library.

What you could do is restore old copies of notes databases and photo libraries from a date you thought you had the data, and then try and open them in the app and get at the data that way.

Notes is a SQL database I think, so it might take a bit of research on that one. I think you can even open it up in a SQLite editor.
