Glacier picture from a trip last month (not last week) taken with a Pixel 3a and “tweaked” by Google Photos.
Awwww. My first SLR was a Ricoh. That was 30+ years ago. I loved shooting Kodachrome.
Photo story!
A few nights ago I was sitting on my verandah (back porch). Right behind where I took this photo.
Taken on my Pixel 3 with nightsight. My phone has a Steelie style ball bearing magnetic holder which I stuck to the metal fence. The photo was taken in full dark.
Just to the right of the photo there is a set of stairs leading down. I kept hearing leaves rustling at the bottom of the stairs. At first I thought it was the neighbours dog loose again, but it went on for too long. A dog would have explored up the stairs by now, so I went to investigate and found this little guy or girl. I guess it’s camera shy because it hid behind my wheel.
Taken on my Pixel 3 with nightsight. phone is handheld. The photo was taken with an led torch for lighting, it’s very dark down there.
Taken on my Pixel 3 with nightsight. phone resting on the ground with me holding it steady. The photo was taken with an led torch for lighting, it’s even darker down there.
Both photos were taken with zoom so that I would not upset it too much by getting closer than i needed too. It didn’t like the torch (flashlight), that’s why it’s eye is shut. I retreated quickly and it was gone by morning. I checked all 4 wheels before using my car the next day. I do find it interesting that it hid like that. The first place it tried to hide was by a downpipe in much the same way, protecting it’s vulnerable face and belly I suppose. But the downpipe is too exposed and it would not have been able to hide it’s face properly.
It’s a short nosed Echidna. They are an ant eating Monotreme who are egg laying mammals. Sorry about the long post, but these are not exactly everyday animals that I see all the time, or ever before (excluding at the zoo). I was pretty excited.
Love the lighting here
Beautiful. Which area of Carolina? low country?
Every time I see these animals mentioned, their faces are NEVER exposed. Fascinating story and pics. Are you in Australia?
I dig it, too. I need some street photography time
Thanks. This was taken just north of Rodanthe on the island of Cape Hatteras in the Outer Banks, NC.
You guessed it. Outer suburb of Brisbane, Australia. It was fun to realise that I had taken just the right photos earlier in the week to tell the story.
That is an awesome photo!
The ultrawide makes this goal post look wrong
It’s just geometrically challenged
