Nice pick! The Moto G series is certainly a nice budget device. Any manufacturer that has the self-control to refrain from skinning the heck out of their Android build gets respect from me.

Here is a quote from TechRadar’s review.

" Images were sharp and really did pop with color, and despite there being a pixel density difference on paper between the G54 and my iPhone 13 Pro, I couldn’t detect any discernible difference. If anything, I preferred the image produced by the Moto G54, owing to it looking more natural. "

I bring this up because Yes it is fair to compare Expensive iPhones & Andriod Samsung Phones.
The $1200.00 price tag for these high end phones is just a rip off. Of course its not really an issue, because I am asuming most people get a Free Phone with their Cell Phone Plan. I could never justify Paying that kind of money for a Cell Phone.

Here is another quote From TechRadar…

" No, of course the Moto G54 5G still isn’t going to trouble the four-figure flagships of the world, but the more mid-range phones? They should certainly be worried."

I don’t agree with this at all. Would someone like to tell
me what exactly I could do with a four-figure flapship that I can’t do with the Moto G54?

I would never rely on a Cell Phone Camera for my Vacation Photos etc. I would buy a Camera for that.
I don’t want to play games on a dinky little screen.
The iPhone screen is too small for me,no Headphone Jack & Battery Life sucks.

Samsung phones double up the software with all of their own crap which is a real battery drain. It would take me a while to customize the phone.

I did not get my phone because it was cheap, I like it
because it has everything I want in a Cell Phone.
I would never get an iPhone because I don’t want to do
things Apple’s way. I like to Customize my Phone the way I want. I also like to use Firefox as my default browser.I also use my own email client, I have Gmail disabled.

The Moto G54 is a Budget Price but not a Budget phone. Its a 3 Figure
Flagship Power House. :+1: :sunglasses: :+1:

If people are happy with their phone that’s all that really matters.

Just going by the specifications, the main differences are:

  • a high quality case (titanium, aluminium, steel and glass, for example, rather than plastic).
  • a better display (OLED, TFT or microLED as opposed to a cheaper IPS display)
  • higher resolution display
  • A more modern and capable processor
  • more RAM - the G54 has 4GB or 8GB, most high end phones have at least 8GB on the base option many are already into double figures.
  • more storage options (>256GB)
  • 4K/60fps video, insteaf of FullHD, plus slow-motion modes, for example
  • Wi-Fi 6(e) and Bluetooth 5.4, instead of Wi-Fi 5 and BT 5.3
  • Facial recognition

Obviously, it depends on how much you want or need those extra features or improved quality, as to whether the price difference is worth it.

Gotta disagree with calling the G54 a flagship device. Objectively, a flagship device has certain features that the G54 doesn’t have, whether or not they’re relevant to you.

Personally, the display type and lack of Qi wireless charging are a dealbreaker.

I’ve invested in Qi and have chargers throughout my house and even in my vehicle. The black levels on an OLED screen are a saving grace for my eyes at night, I couldn’t go back to anything less on a mobile device.

Premium case materials are a “nice to have” that I’m willing to pay a premium for. No IP protection rating on the device is also concerning, having been pushed into a pool before . I’m not familiar with the Mediatek in the G54 but I’ve been disappointed by other Mediatek processors in the past.

Does Motorola provide updates for the next few versions of Android?
Generally speaking Motorola makes good phones but does not have a great support track record.

Maybe another differentiator. Manufacturers who sell large numbers of flagships with big margins can afford to pay the software dev teams.

Moto is 3 years support I think, security updates every other month.

I am currently using my Moto G6 plus with the latest LineageOS. I think its more than 5 years old now. I believe its a matter of policy that is keeping these devices back nothings else. Moto and any other vendor could definitely provide first party support but they choose not to because then people will have to purchase new devices.
This is most evident with chinese manufacturers.

Here is some info on the Mediatek 7020 Processor.

Mediatek 7020

Here is a quote from a review on the 7020.

“The MediaTek Dimensity 7020 is manufactured in the modern 6nm process and should be very power efficient.”

To Save my Battery & my Eyes I have my home screen set to a Black Background & I use Dark Mode. If its still too bright at night I just turn down the Brightness.
