I heard phone desk and was like what in the world? Then I listened on and chuckled because I have a cabinet that serves that purpose. 2 smartphones, 2 smart watches, airpods, bluetooth headphones, keys and wallets all go on the cabinet at the end of the night. Granted now I’m working from home and the cabinet feels like it’s inching closer and closer to my desk haha.
Did I actually hear Doc Rock suggest that Vinyl, vinyl? might be better than bluetooth or any other digital medium above 160kbits (yes, including MP3s)? HELLO??? A very, very, very good vinyl system might have been decent for 5 plays before the grooves were hopelessly compromised, but never in the same league as CD quality. Are you guys familiar with the RIAA curves needed to even make vinyl decent? Well-matched bluetooth is very good. I would love to get Doc and Leo into an A-B-X listening test and see if they can tell the difference between 128kbit MP3 audio or bluetooth and ‘vinyl’. You guys DO realize that your aged ears probably top out at 8 to 10kHz?
Scratches and pops aside, a direct-to-disc vinyl recording captures 100% of the music. That’s always going to be better than any lossy compression methodology.
