I haven’t watched the episode yet, but I bet this is referring to the news that Apple would like to maybe use Intel fabs to produce older chips domestically in the USA. Not Apple moving back to Intel Core x86 CPUs

I’m really not a fan of Mark Gurman. He seems like an asshole.

This episode flew by and I didn’t have as much to say as I usually do. But I’m pretty bummed out about the changes to the education pricing. I know I can “afford” it, but that $100 goes a long way for me.

Educational discount has always required verification, here in Germany. When I was a guest lecturer at Augsburg Uni, I had to get my department head to sign a document from Apple, that I was actually working at the Uni, when I bought my first generation 24" Intel iMac.

So much for anyone just picking up a Macbook Neo at the educational pricing now.

Honestly I think it’s a huge bummer that they’re changing how education pricing works. Apple is already such a rich company I can’t imagine it was impacting the bottom line that much. I blame all the tech journalists/influencers who promoted the education pricing to the masses. (Queue Floatingbones asking for 5 sources)
