My crystal ball shows Christina Warren buying the folding phone no matter the cost on day 1.

With how expensive things are here in Canada, I don’t think I’ll be able to justify the cost of the folding phone even if I do decide I want one.

You mean a phone that costs 3 months rent would be unaffordable?

See, there’s a difference between unaffordable and unjustifiable. I can definitely afford it. I just cannot justify it as you mentioned, 3x the cost of my rent

Regarding Jason’s comment about the USA ladies team making football in Europe popular, it has been popular here for decades. My daughter played in the regional league from 8 through 18, when she moved away to study.

It has also been televised on Eurosport since the late 90s.

Not having listened to the show, I wonder if the comment was more of making the sport more popular in the US. I’ve always known that soccer (as us yanks call it) has been a very popular sport in other countries (outside of the US) for years before it started getting popular here (outside of school competition).

It was in discussion about the new season of Ted Lasso. He said that, thanks to the US Women’s Team, women’s football has now become popular in Europe as well, when it has been popular for decades.

It has been around but the rise of USWNT has def had impact globally, other nations investing more in their national teams etc. Premier league teams have talked pretty openly about the investment they are now making into the women clubs and the WC growing etc. Good the USMNT is about to clown out on home soil… a tradition that keeps rolling on!

The German and Dutch women’s national teams, at least, have been stars in TV for years and there is hundreds of local women’s clubs that play in leagues, here in Germany. And it has been said for years in Germany, that the women’s football is more interesting to watch (fewer divas, more teamwork, than the men).
