it’ll be very sad to see Alex go. I really hope y’all keep someone as combative on the show in the future. best of luck to Alex!!!
Same here, I often disagree with him, but he is also so knowledgeable in his specialist area, it is always a treat when he talks about his work and experiences.
I will miss him.
(Listening to the podcast now, will edit this post as I go.)
I appreciated Leo wishing us a happy Hanukkah. Most podcasters never call our Hanukkah in particular.
I don’t like to mess around with the same-day delivery option stuff. But 2 years ago I had Apple deliver me some stuff and it was a magical experience. It’s powered by Uber over here because the tracking part of the app uses the Uber design language and whatnot. I never order my groceries to be delivered, I never use DoorDash/UberEats. I really get antsy waiting for someone and stuff. I’d usually rather just go get it myself
Alex is a perfect fit for Apple, While I find some of his non-technology views offensive, he is - as I and others have said, a great subject matter expert. I wish him all the best at his new endeavor.
I think it’s important (for me, anyway) to have someone you disagree with (and maybe even find some of their views about non-tech offensive). I worry if they have someone much more agreeable it’ll become like ATP. Which is a fine podcast, but it doesn’t hit the same as MBW.
Happy Holidays to Alex, Jason, and Leo!
I am really sad to hear that Alex will be leaving, but I am wishing him well in is new Apple career. I really value his opinion, and I am sure that Apple will be better because they added Alex to the fold.
I’m the same way. If my wife and I want something, I can place the order online for most of the casual dining / fast food / pizza places we like to go, hop in the car, and be back well before Door Dash would get the order to me.
I’m also sad to see Alex leave the show. Who’s Andy going to spar with?
While many of his picks of the week were of no value to me, I still found them interesting. It’ll be interesting to see who Leo gets to take his place.
I will be sad to see Alex go, MBW will not be anywhere near as good as it has been with him
. On the other hand, as a 16 year Apple employee (retired now) I can say he has some fun and interesting times ahead - best of luck Alex
Like everyone else, I am sad to see Alex go. I wish him well.
Hopefully the fans of Alex will understand my joke:
I give this “Alex leaving MBW” a 1-star review! ![]()
Non-technology views???
I think Alex would chuckle at that!![]()
I was trying to be polite since it was his last episode. I am referring to his stance on how Apple conducts business, his views on zero-rating apps of developers who choose to use alternate payment systems, and the like. Views I found pretty repugnant.
There’s no need to belabor the point now. And I recognize that no person is one-dimensional. He and the rest of the hosts clearly had a good friendship between them. Let’s just leave it there. As I said - I wish him all the best at his future endeavors.
Understood - I was just curious
Sounds like the perfect job for him. It will be interesting to see if any of his suggestions/improvements that we’ve heard about for years (like USDZ improvements or a developer super fund) ever get implemented.
It’s pretty crappy that Apple doesn’t allow employees to appear on podcasts. Even ones that have nothing to do with Apple, like playing DnD with friends that happens to be a podcast. I understand you get a full time job you can’t really be a journalist, but you still have opinions. Too many great personalities have been lost and no longer have a by-line, even when working editorial at Apple. Plenty of other companies have no issue having employees, officially or unofficially, appear on podcasts from time to time. Chris Caposella and Christina Warren come to mind. You’ve hired adults, you should trust them.
