Hi, I am using a 2020 MacBook Pro M1 for professional/production usage.
You have to remember Paul that that i7 processor on a Surface Pro will never reach top performance. Mainly because of heat dissipation and form factor. There is no reality distortion field here, just the facts. In my business, I push hardware and software to their max. You may say that you need to run Windows for business apps. However what are they? Compared to 10 years ago, and barring a few exceptions - that isn’t a discussion anymore.
After Leo showed Win on ARM on a Win Weekly episode, it’s convinced me that x86 will be phased out over the next 10 years. Just my gut feeling.
I am not sure I want to get into an argument about pros and cons of Macs vs Wintel with a north American - even a Canadian.
However I will say one thing about the X86 architecture and that is it will move to x86s dumping the 16bit and 32bit specific ops and moving to solely 64bit, it will also gain neural processing cores.
The reality is the only people that push their systems to the max are gamers and bitcoin miners.
