HI I was wanting to ask a question about a security question about an email address belonging to facebook. I was wanting to ask does security@facebookmail.com
is it legit and is it ok to submit private imformation to facebook this way.
Is facebookmail.com Legit? - 9meters Yes that really is Facebook.
HOWEVER, mal-spreaders are very good at faking emails, so you need to make sure that it’s not a fake email that just looks legitimate. Don’t necessarily trust any links in it, and copy and paste them (maybe into something like a text editor first, to make sure there are not funky characters or anything else funny going on.
Thanks. Pholder
Thanks for the imformation
I also once asked myself this same question. I feel like Facebook/Meta should stop using that domain. It is easy to feel like you’re being phished.
As a very generalised rule, if you get an email from an organisation that you have an account with, asking you to do something, it could be wiser to open a browser and log into your account there to see if the request exists there as well. If it does, use any links in the account page, not the ones in the email. Emails can always be messed with.
It’s like when someone phones, says they’re your bank and asks you to do something. Best to hang up, ring the number on your bank card or statement (from another phone, ideally), rather than trusting someone whose identity you don’t know.
Maybe I’m too suspicious.
Thanks Clayton for the information
Nope, I don’t think you are. In this day in age the odds are too high that any communication/request you didn’t directly solicit is probably undesirable in some way or other.
